New banner!

I've decided to update the banner for my blog. Enough of these soft metal frames. I wanted something bigger and amazing. The banner also links back to the blog home. I've also gotten rid of the top links because they were getting in the way. I've also changed the main focus of the banner. I remember that the artwork of Megaman used on the Star Force box is similar to the Battle Network box and it makes a great combo. I like this new layout. Maybe when I can actually make my own layout, I'll change it. But this is good so far.

3D ACDC map coming together!

Previously, I presented some images of the BN5DS 3D models using Console Tools. The author has made some changes and the preview is much more accurate. Here is how the 3D version of ACDC Town would have looked like. There are some similarities with the GBA map. It's really coming together now!


It's amazing. It really looks like it would have made an interesting game. Here are my observations of this map:
The buildings are small. If the bridge provides any indication, the characters would have looked large compared to the buildings and doors. The white lines on the road could have indicated places the player couldn't walk. SO it wouldn't have been possible to reach the trees on the highest hill in town.
The Honda building is clearly a stack of rusty containers. I don't know why.
There is a strange fixture in the north of town. Since there is no park, I'm assuming the park would be in that direction. There are also several vending machines throughout town.
The 7-11 building is also where I thought it would be. The promo buildings are on the west of town. But the texture looked suspicious and I looked it up and it turns out it's almost EXACTLY the same as the picture used on the 7-11 Japan website. What a strange coincidence.
Higsby's shop is also there but it seems the name isn't loading correctly. Dex, Mayl, Yai, and Lan's house seem to be in the same proximity that they were in the GBA version. It's a shame Yai's house is cut off like that even in the 3D version. The river is also there but the boat is missing. It's also exclusive to the 3D version. The metro seems to have been moved as well.
With the absence of the park, it would have been oddly placed. It also has a vending machine for no reason.
And there are traffic signs. I don't know what the signs mean but they must relate to pedestrian traffic. Whether they affected the gameplay or not is unknown so they could have gone BN1 on this.

As soon as a release is made public, I'll record a video of the other rooms. It's going to be EPIC!!!!

Megaman Star Force 3 Debug!

If you hadn't seen already, a few days ago, I discovered a graphic that suggested a debug mode existed in MMSF3.

Here are the contents of the sprite file that hinted at this.

A Debug mode would be interesting but the game has no debug scripts unlike the previous Star Force games or BN games. I passed this on to Prof.9 after I couldn't access the option through basic cursor hacking. The graphic cannot be accessed. After he looked at it, he could not find the debug mode. However, he created a hack that makes the game start in the debug room. When selecting New Game, instead of beginning with the cutscene on the roof, you'll start in the room called Debug. Here, surprisingly, are people which only appear when you start a new game. These are obviously placed there for the sole purpose of testing overworld object tricks. The Debug room takes the appearence of the candy shop and the text of Echo Ridge. The NPC text is taken from a small file which only the debug room uses. It is likely that this small file would have contained the debug scripts all the other games had. There's isn't much left in the debug room except some simulations. Maybe there are more but this is a close enough answer to the debug option in the sprite file.

I recorded a video showing the test subjects in the debug room.

Two Action Replay cheats were made from trying to hack the debug mode.
I made the quick start code.

Prof.9 made this code. From the title screen, selecting New Game will start a new game in the Debug room. There, you can explore the debug room like in the video.

And one more thing. I didn't reach the wave road in the video but I checked and there are no viruses, the exit freezes the game like the ground exit does. Also, even though the ACCESS panel can't be seen, there is an access point at the end of the road. However, it also freezes the game.

Huge thanks to Prof.9 for looking into this. I've always wanted to explore the debug mode of a game. Even though it wasn't what I expected, it was fun. MMSF2 has a similar option as well. There is an unused Japanese option in the title screen that reads "Documentation Plaza". I wonder what's up with that?
