Last Batch: Unused Models

This is partially what I was trying to accomplish. Being able to manipulate the models in game, I could take the unused 3D models from Star Force and use BN5DS as a virtual emulator to process the files. The models should be correct. Shading is a little different and could be an emulator error. While the model format may have been the same as I anticipated, the motions format isn't. Only the the idle animation can be loaded and I'm very certain there are more. A general-purpose BCA0 animation viewer would be needed to progress further. These models, out of proportion and fairly inaccurate, are ideal test subjects which could have been used to explore the game's barely-developed real-world and cyber-world environments. The foot and buster texture, sharing the same textures as the Mega Man model from the previous post, have no animation textures. It is possible these were used for battle models.

Anyways, here is the last batch: the proper idle animations for the 4 character models found in Star Force.

Those are some insane finds. I just wonder what this could have been like, had the development team been granted more time.

Sometimes one has to wonder about exactly how messy the EXE 4-5 development era really was. That was a lot to do in the span of two years...

I've been waiting for someone (ahem, you) to get these things cleaned up for ages! Awesome stuff.

I'm crazy excited about these finds.

Is there any way to get that animation viewer you mentioned? There are a lot of people in the homebrew and ripping scene who make tools like that.

I thought the Console Tool could read those animations...

Console Tool can't read animations at the moment. If and when it does get support, these will be revisited.

Is there a way for Console Tool to export the models into a usable format?

The version I have can't and I don't know what's going on with the third version.

If i had access to those bmds and trying to replace other models in a copy of bn5ds with those doesn't cause any compile errors, I can harvest textures, the bare untextured model, and a separate Maya bone structure file using this tool I got recently... Hey, Mega Rock, I forgot, what are the filenames for these bmds? Maybe I can get the models, it worked for the standard MegaMan model in bn5ds.

Here they are, I think.

Well, I didn't actually bother opening the models to verify, but I rushed using the tool to get the models in that zip into .objs with separate textures and bone structures... Does anybody want them, though? I mean, come on, what's one going to use a boot and megabuster for anyways :P (I have the other models, just saying those two are useless XD) But seriously... Anybody going to bother doing anything with ripped unused bn5 models?

Mega Rock, I'll put the link up here if you'll let me, I guess...

By the way, the tool I use supports really decent BCA0 animation execution... Just throwing that out there.

Which tool? Show me.

Well, surprisingly its something called MKDS Course Modifier. It's (obviously) a tool primarily for all aspects of modding MKDS, and even has texture replacement and stuff like that. So far, all of the functions also work for MMBN5DS's rom, too. I found out that the version of nsbmd used can read BCA0 animations and export models to .obj after having watched some videos and playing with the controls.
Its on this forum thread - http://gbatemp.net/threads/mkds-course-modifier.299444/page-13
On the last entry, number 250.

So... Anybody want these ripped .objs? Or is this going to be another one where someone replies like 5 years from now and I'll have moved on to bigger, better things... Or does nobody need me now that the link's up there?
...IDK whatever :P

MegaRockEXE said...

Oh yes. Post them please. Any contributions to this is greatly appreciated.

Well, here it is.

^For separate models (a single character/model's files)
Remember guys... This is just a batch of the unused, unrigged, untextured models in .obj, along with their respective .ma (Maya ASCII, supposed to be bone structure file but I don't have Maya so IDK) and textures in PNG (best quality :D). Separate textures, sorry guys. I don't think I'll ever bother learning how to make UV maps and all that :P
But anyway, I hope you guys find this useful. Have a nice day.
