A little upset

I'm not going to get into much detail on this, but I'm kind of upset about something. Today, my DVR erased itself and now I have no recordings. I had about 45 recordings spanning a year in there. Some are irreplaceable. I contacted customer support and apparently nothing can be done about it. It's too bad really because the DVR recordings had SAP and Closed Captioning, which is something you don't get easily online. And they were all HD. The one thing I found most interesting in my encounter with customer support was that the representative actually recommend I go to utorrent.com to get my erased episodes. I really did not see that coming. I think I'll pass and let this small case of hoarding go by.

Ouch.

One of the flaws of this type of technology. You can do so much with it, but it all can vanish in an instant.

A while back, I used to have a laptop. It would be about 8 years old at this point. A virus came by in such a way that I had no way to recover anything in there. 6 years worth of forum RPG archives, random funny images, and such lost.

I had even archived a small amount of that 'Blues RPG of some sort' thread over at GameFAQs. And of course I had archived my short-lived 'Roll RPG of some sort' as well.

Memories, man. Memories. All gone.
